Abstract

Reinforcement wires of a thin-walled prestressed tubular spun-cast concrete body, such as a pylon or mast, are provided with steel anchorage plates, each plate 3 being fastened to the respective wire by passing the wire through a hole in the plate, forming a protuberance 2 on the wire, and deforming at least a portion of the plate into gripping engagement with the wire whilst thrusting the plate against the protuberance. The deformation takes the form of two semi-circular recesses 4 pressed into the plate, Fig. 1a (not shown), and generates elastic strains in regions A and B so that plate still elastically grips the wire when radially Contracted as a result of tension applied to the wire. As shown in (Fig. 2), the wires are each provided with two spaced anchorage plates at each end, which transmit at least a proportion of the wire tension to the concrete.
