Abstract

Foundations. - Reinforced-concrete beams are laid side by side on joists or walls to form a floor or road and consist of a metal sheath or body A, Figs. 1 and 2, into which the concrete B is cast and locked therein by the turned-over and perforated edge 12 and the perforated base. Tongues 14, 14a may also be bent up from the base and sides. The reinforcing bars 15 are shaped at the ends as hooks 15<b> to anchor the beams to the supports. The sides of the sheath may be bent to form lips 30, Fig. 3, which engage the grooved edge 32 of an adjacent beam, and also to form keying edges 31. Bolts 33 may be used instead of the tongues 14a. In a modification, the beam is reinforced with reticulated material and anchored by a hooked bolt. The supports comprise angle-bars on T- or flat bars, or a flat bar C, Figs. 1, 6, and 7, slitted and trussed by a strut 22 and wedges 23 and enclosed by a false beam 25. The beams may be covered with concrete.
