Abstract
1301436 Steam turbines LENINGRADSKY DVAZHDY ORDENA LENINA METALLICHESKY ZAVOD IMENI XXII SIEZDA KPSS 7 Oct 1971 46649/71 Heading FIT To reduce steam temperature in the lowpressure stages of a steam turbine during idle or low load running a header 8 sprays a cooling steam-water mixture into a condenser 2 in a zone adjacent ducts 1 connecting root regions 3 of the final stage rotor blades 4 with the condenser. The header 8 comprises an inner pipe 11 which supplies condensate through nozzles 12 to moisten the steam supplied by the boiler to a surrounding outer pipe 9, the steam-water mixture entering condenser 2 through nozzles 10. The mixture is thence directed by ducts 1 to root regions 3 whereupon drops of moisture are thrown centrifugally to the tips of blades 4 to cool the main steam flow which is then directed through ducts 6 to condenser 2.
