Abstract
1301064 Oil filter FILTERWERK MANN & HUMMEL GmbH 19 April 1971 [21 Feb 1970] 22318/71 Heading B1D An integral bousing disposable oil filter for an I.C. engine has an annular filter element 41, 42 partly cut away to accommodate by-pass valve 30 adjacent to the end closure plate 5 so that a minimum of retained solids is carried into filtrate space 27 when the valve opens. The element comprises two fibrous rings of different wall thicknesses and/or density, the lower ring being displaced laterally of the element axis (Fig. 2, not shown) and possibly more compressed where its wall is thinnest near the valve 30. Valve 30 extends the length of ring 42 and comprises a spring-loaded member 39 normally engaging a seat round aperture 32 in end disc 23 of the filter element. The filter screws on to spigot 8 and may have a non- return valve (not shown) covering inlet openings 7.
