Abstract

1283212 Oil filter AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO Ltd 12 Aug 1970 [13 Aug 1969] 40523/69 Heading B1D A disposable filter for an I.C. engine oil circuit comprises a sheet metal canister 11, 12, 13 whose open end is reinforced by annular plate 15 having inlet and outlet openings 18, 16, an elastomeric ring 24 forming a non-return valve covering inlets 18 and a pressing 25 presenting shoulders which engage the ring 24 and one end of annular filter element 19, whose other end is closed by a plate 22 having resilient fingers which press element 19 leftwards to hold ring 24 and pressing 25 against plate 15. Plate 22 also incorporates a blade spring 32 serving as a by-pass valve. Fig. 3 (not shown) illustrates an alternative end closure 12 for the canister. Outlet opening 16 may be threaded to screw on to a spigot or may be formed as an externally threaded spigot to screw into a hole in the engine.
