Abstract

1,133,860. Oil filter. TECALEMIT (ENG.) Ltd. 18 Nov., 1965 [18 Nov., 1964], No. 37975/68. Divided out of 1132963. Heading BID. A filter for the lubricating oil circuit of an I.C. engine comprises a coarse filter element 123, of packed sisal, located partly within one end of a fine filter element 122, of pleated. annular form and made of resin-impregnated paper, and a pressure-operated by-pass valve 142. In Fig. I, the elements act partly in parallel and partly in series, element 123 having a cup-like perforate container 151 welded to tube 136 supporting element 122. End caps 137, 138 are of plastics, metal or resin-impregnated fibre-board. In Fig. 2, not shown, the end cap (237) of the fine element is extended to form a cup-like container for the coarse element, perforated only at its end so that the elements act wholly in parallel. Flow through the coarse element is radially inwards and axially out of one end. The elements are clamped by spring 154 against one end of their housing, which screws on to the engine and has an inlet non-return valve 131.
