Abstract

1295484 Latches ARN KIEKERT SOHNE 9 Nov 1970 [15 Jan 1970] 53152/70 Heading E2A A motor vehicle door latch comprises a box section housing 3 constructed from a channel section member having two spaced limbs 8, 9 and an interconnecting web 10 and being further connected remote from the web by a cover plate 7 extending between the limbs, the housing being adapted for installation on an end wall of a door of the vehicle so as to project therefrom and containing a rotary forked latch bolt 11 for working association with a keeper pin 5 adapted to be fastened to a door pillar of the vehicle bodywork, an entrance slot in the connecting web for the keeper pin, the forked latch bolt being mounted to turn on a pivot pin 12 supported in the housing between the web and the cover plate below the entrance slot for the keeper pin, and a rotary detent 13 likewise mounted on a pivot pin supported in the housing between the web and the cover plate to co-operate with the forked latch bolt, and a wedge shaped striker pad 17 fitted in the housing behind the rotary detent. In the construction shown the cover plate is used to secure the housing to the door and the limbs of the housing are secured to the cover plate by rivetting them over; however in a modification the limbs terminate in flanges and bolts pass through holes in the flanges into threaded apertures in the cover plate to secure the housing to the door.
