Abstract

1340833 Vehicle doors FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 18 Oct 1972 [29 Nov 1971] 47898/72 Headings B7B and B7J A vehicle door 15 or 16 is provided with a longitudinally extending reinforcing beam 24 or 38 which is pivotally connected at one end to a body pillar 12 or 13 and carries at its other end means 27 or 45 for engaging a further body pillar 13 or 14. Hinges 17 or 32 pivotally mount door 15 or 16 and beam 24 and 38 respectively to the pillar 12 or 13. Each beam extends within each door and has an end plate 26 or 44, having hooked extensions 27 or 45, which extends through the end door panel wall 29 or 47. The extensions 27 or 45 engage, when the door is closed, in apertures 32 or 48 in the pillar 13 or 14. Each door is provided with a conventional latch mechanism 28 or 46 which operates independently of the hooked extensions 27 or 45.
