Abstract
1295156 Stainless steel INTERNATIONAL NICKEL Ltd 10 July 1970 [11 July 1969] 33618/70 Heading C7A A stainless steel has a composition, in per cent by weight, in the following range:- Cr 16-30 Mo 0À5-11 Ni 2-8 C up to 0À1 Si up to 3À0 Ti up to less than 2 and/or one or more of V, Nb, Ta, Zr up to 2 each, the total of these five metals not exceeding 5:- Al 0-2 Mn 0-2 Co 0-10 W 0-4 Fe apart from impurities the balance The sum Cr + 3Mo + 3Si is at least 35 and at least one of Ti, V, Nb, Ta, Zr is present in amount of at least 0À15 if the C content is not less than 0À02 or if the steel is air melted and if the aforementioned sum is less than 41. Reference is made to the preparation of several examples of the alloys, the melts having been deoxidized with 0À05% Ca in the form of a 30% Ca-70% Si master alloy, and the steels having been subjected to various heat-treatment and rolling operations.
