Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a high-toughness high-strength Al alloy cast product by specifying the kind and amount of alloying elements added to Al.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy is adjusted to a composition consisting of, by wt., one or more among 2.5W8.0% Mg, 0.01W1.5% Zr, 0.05W0.7% Cu, 0.05W0.8% Cr, 0.05W0.5% Si and 0.05W1.3% Co; 0.03W0.20% Ti (a) or (a) in combination with 0.03W0.20% B; and the balance Fe and inevitable impurities or further contg. as required <0.6% Fe, <0.06% Mn, <0.5% Ni and <0.5% Ag. This alloy is comparable with or superior to a conventional heat treated Al alloy in toughness, strength and yield strength without carrying out heat treatment, and it has very superior corrosion resistance.
