Electric and magnetic speed indicators.-In an instrument for indicating or recording t h e velocity of the wind, the shaft S carrying the usual Robinson cups, or other propulsive means such as vanes, carries an armature A which rotates between the poles of a squareshaped permanent magnet M. The induced E.M.F. is indicated by the meter I, which is empirically graduated to give a direct reading of wind velocity. The whole apparatus may be mounted in a box C provided with a window W, or the meter I may be at a distance. The armature A may be of annular form and may enclose a stationary soft-iron core. The meter I may be adapted to give a graphic record of wind velocity.
