A vehicle speedometer operating on the eddycurrent principle is provided with a magnetic temperature compensating ring 9, through which passes flux cutting an eddy-current bell 4, the magnetic permeance of the ring decreasing with increasing temperature, wherein the ring 9 is firmly connected to the bell 4 and is arranged between the bell 4 and a magnet 3 producing the flux.
