Abstract
1292804 Container vehicles RONWAY ENG CO Ltd and R H HAM 10 Nov 1969 [19 Nov 1968] 54920/68 Heading B8Q In mounting a body 4 on a vehicle having rails 9, the vehicle is backed between legs 5, 6 of the body and wheels 11 provided on the body engage inclined surfaces 15 of the rails 9 to cause the front legs 5 to be lifted off the ground. The wheels 11 as the vehicle is further backed, run down inclined rail surfaces 12 until a bar 31 on the body 4 is located in lugs 13 mounted on the rails 9. Simultaneously, a spigot 18 at the back of the body is centred in a V-slot 17 formed in a plate 16 secured to the rails 9. The driver then leaves his seat and, by a switch 30, causes a pair of hydraulic jacks 21 mounted on the vehicle chassis to raise the body so that the legs 6 clear the ground. These legs and the jacks are then retracted and the body 4 thus lowered on to the vehicle. The body may then be secured, for example, by bolts on the lugs 13. Demounting is carried out in the reverse manner. The jacks may be other than hydraulic.
