Abstract

1524968 Loading trailer vehicles; vehicle supports CRANE FRUEHAUF Ltd 28 Oct 1975 [18 Nov 1974] 49853/74 Headings B7B and B7J A trailer vehicle for carrying a number of demountable bodies comprises a chassis having, adjacent to its rear end, road wheels 10 and, adjacent its front end, caster wheels 11, at a fixed height relative to the chassis, and an extensible supporting leg 12. Leg 12 includes twin hydraulic rams by which it can be extended to bring its foot 13 into contact with the ground and then lift the front end so that detachment of the trailer from a towing vehicle may be effected. Contractions of the leg 12 brings the wheels 11 into ground contact so that the trailer may be wheeled into position beneath bodies to be carried thereby, such bodies being containers having retractable support legs. The trailer includes longitudinal rails 15 to guide these bodies into position for carriage, with recesses 18 to receive front rollers of respective bodies, thus locating the bodies correctly in relation to transversely extending hydraulic locks 19 provided on the chassis.
