1,024,739. Vehicle fuel tanks. X. FENDT, and H. FENDT, [trading as XAVER FENDT & CO. MASCHINEN-UND SCHLEPPERFABRIK]. Dec. 7, 1964 [Dec. 6, 1963], No. 49625/64. Heading B7H. The fuel tank 10 of a tractor is movably mounted on pivots or slides for access to an engine disposed below the tank. In Fig. 2, pivot pins 7 are mounted in brackets 6 on cross-members 5 bolted to the cylinder head 3 of a tractor engine 2 and brackets 8 mounted on rails 9 secured to tank 10 which conforms to the bonnet outline. When the bolts 15 are removed the tank is pivotable sideways. In alternatives the tank is pivotable about a forward transverse axis (Fig. 3, not shown), or about a vertical axis. In Fig. 7 (not shown), interengaging channel-section rails 11, 12 are secured to the engine 2 and tank 10 to permit forward sliding of the tank and the forward part of the bonnet 14 is removable or secured to the tank. In a modification, part 14 is part of the fuel tank. The tank may alternatively be arranged to move other than longitudinally of the vehicle on rails or be mounted on telescopically extensible parts in place of rails 11, 12. The tank is normally held in place by quick-release fasteners.
