Abstract
1292735 Magnetic compositions PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 17 March 1970 [20 March 1969] 12763/70 Heading H1H A sintered ferromagnetic ferrite body consisting of interlocking crystals having an average grain size of more than 50 microns, is made by adding 0À01-0À1% by wt. of an alkaline earth metal metaborate to the starting mixture of metal oxides and/or compounds decomposable thereto at the: sintering temperature. The average grain size is defined as the quotient of the length in microns of any straight line drawn on a section of the body and the number of crystals intersected by that line. The body may have a composition corresponding to 5-35 mol.% NiO; 15-45 mol. % ZnO; 48-50 mol. % Fe 2 O 3 . In an example, calcium metaborate is added to a mixture of N 1 O, ZnO and Fe 2 O 3 . The mixture is fired at 850‹ C. for 1 hour, ground, compressed and then fired for 20 hours at 1200‹ C. in pure O 2 .
