Abstract

1289895 Shearing head for dry shaver SUNBEAM CORP 5 June 1970 [6 June 1969] 27365/70 Heading B4B In a shearing head for an electric dry shaver, a foraminous shearing member 30, Fig. 7, is hingeably supported on a head assembly 13, is held in a closed position in contact with cutters 31 by the latch retainer 51b of a latch means 50 slidably mounted in the assembly 13, and is moved to an open position, Fig. 8, away from the cutters by biasing means when the latch retainer 51b is moved by finger actuation of actuating means 53 of the latch means 50. The head is described as forming part of a dry shaver driven by rechargeable batteries. The head assembly 13 comprises outer and inner frames 24, 25 respectively between which is sandwiched a plate 42. The plate serves to hold a latch member 51 carrying the retainer 51b, and a biassing spring 52 within a recess in the frame 25. The member 30 is hinged to a hinge plate 41 and biased to the open position by a spring 44. The plate 41 is itself pivotally mounted on the frame 25 and is held in position by an end portion 42a of plate 42. The cutters 31 are mounted on shafts 34 which are oscillated by levers connected to an eccentric driven by the motor, the levers passing through the frames, 24, 25.
