1287032 Carburizing iron and steel BERGWERKSVERBAND GmbH 9 Jan 1970 [29 Jan 1969] 1262/70 Heading C7D [Also in Division C5] Coke pellets for use as carbonizing agents in iron and steel baths are made by mixing non- caking coal and/or coke with hard pitch having a softening point (Kramer-Sarnow) of 120‹ to 150‹C. or with caking coal having a swelling index of 5 to 8, optionally with iron-rich ore, grinding the mixture to a particle size of 100% below 0À5 mm and 60% below 0À06 mm, pelletizing the ground mixture with water, and coking the green pellets.
