Abstract

1286811 Valves SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd 15 Sept 1969 [19 Sept 1968 (2)] 44522/68 and 44523/68 Heading F2V [Also in Division F4] A fluid flow control valve comprises a fluid inlet 62 and outlet 63, a plunger 60 connected to a plate 72 which divides a chamber 69, the lower part of chamber 69 being at atmospheric pressure and the upper part being connected via duct 70 with a variable vacuum source, a power capsule 74 connected by a spring 71 to the plate 72 and by a capillary tube 75 to a temperature sensor which contains an expansible fluid and chamber 66 connected through a passage 78 with inlet 62. The valve controls the flow of liquid engine coolant to a heat exchanger in a vehicle air conditioning system.
