Abstract

1,042,466. Valves. LUWA A.G. July 12, 1963 [July 13, 1962], No. 27710/63. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F4] A valve for maintaining constant the coma heat exchanger in series therewith comprises a valve member 17, Fig. 2 connected by a yoke 18 to a spring-loaded diaphragm 14 subject on its upper side to the pressure on the inlet side of the throttle valve and on its under side to the pressure on the outlet side of the heat exchanger. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) suitable for arrangement at the outlet of the heat exchanger, the valve member 43 is supported by two coaxial diaphragms 33, 34, the space 35 above the upper diaphragm 34 being exposed to the pressure at the outlet of the heat exchanger and the space 37 below the lower diaphragm being exposed to the pressure upstream of the throttle valve. A throttle valve (Fig. 7, not shown) for controlling the supply of hot or cold fluid to the heat exchanger comprises a piston 56 movable in sealing rings 59, 60 and having V-shaped slots or grooves 64 to connect an inlet 53 or 54 with an outlet 55. The inlet so connected is also connected to a pressure regulator through an outlet 69 in the one case by an axial passage 73 and in the other by a notch 72 in an auxiliary piston 70 moving in sealing rings 66, 67. The pistons 56, 70 may be operated by a servomotor controlled by room temperature.
