Abstract

1285001 Collapsible bins; box pallets R & H WALE (EXPORT) Ltd 19 April 1971 [17 March 1970] 12811/70 Headings B8H and B8P A collapsible fruit bin comprises a tray having shallow walls 2 and 3, bars 6 secured to and projecting outwardly from opposed walls 2, and deep collapsible walls 8, 12 located above the shallow walls 2 and 3. The bars 6 provide shoulders beneath which slings or the prongs of a fork-lift truck can be inserted. The collapsible walls may be detachable, Fig. 1, from the shallow wall 2, 3 and when detached stored inside the tray or they may be hinged to the shallow walls 2, 3 such that when collapsed a pair of opposed collapsible walls overlie the other pair of collapsible walls. When the collapsible walls 8, 12 are detachable, they are secured to the tray by bayonet-like interengagement between pairs of mating male and female locating plates (9, 10, Fig. 2) provided on the upper and lower edges of the tray and the collapsible walls 8, 12 respectively. The collapsible walls may be latched together at the corners at the top of the bin or secured together by screws passing through plates into sockets in the edges of the walls 8. Small gaps for air circulation are provided between the base 1 of the tray and the shallow end walls 3.
