Abstract
1283995 Endless and rotary conveyers BREMER HANDELS GmbH [trading as TRINKALM INDUSTRIE PAUER CO] 25 Sept 1970 [26 Sept 1969] 45779/70 Heading B8A [Also in Division F2] Packages 10 travelling at high speed on a conveyer belt 11 are transferred to a belt 12 extending at right angles by a discontinuously rotating spider 14 having arms 13 with grips, which is successively decelerated to a standstill for the pick-up and put-down and accelerated between the two by a spring-lever energy storing mechanism (Fig. 2). The spider arm 13 approaches the mechanism in the direction 16. A first lock 17 on the spider arm 13 is raised, and able to clear both levers 19, 20 but a second lock 18 hits the lever 20 causing it and therefore connected lever 19 to swing outwards thus extending the pneumatic spring unit 23, compressing the gas in chamber 26 (by-pass 29 being closed), and thereby decelerating the spider arm 13. To release the energy stored in the spring 23 an electromagnet 34 is operated to pivot a lever 33 to raise the lock 18. The lock 17 now being operative, the spring unit contracts bringing the lever 19 and therefore connected lever 20 back to the positions shown, and the lever 19 (optionally assisted by a motor, not shown) accelerate the spider arm 13 in the direction 16. The pneumatic spring 23 may be replaced by a coil spring 37 (Figs. 5, 6, not shown).
