Abstract

1281597 Ni-G alloys INTERNATIONAL NICKEL Ltd 2 Sept 1970 [15 Sept 1969] 45327/69 Heading C7A A casting for use in a furnace is made by melting an alloy comprising 40-55% Cr, the balance, apart from impurities including no more than 0.3% N, being Ni, adding to the melt one or more of Nb, Ti and Ta to combine with at least most of the N and provide at least 0À2% of uncombined metal(s) but in such an amount that, for the uncombined element(s). 0.5 (% Nb) + %Ti + 0.3 (%Ta) is no more than 1, and then casting the melt. If the melt is prepared and cast under vacuum, there may be added Nb 0.3- 1À5% or Ta 0.8-3% or Ti 0.3-1%, if it is processed in air Nb 0À6-2À2% or Ta 1-4% or Ti 0À4-1À5% may be added. The castings produced have improved room temperature ductility.
