Abstract

1,194,961. Alloys. INTERNATIONAL NICKEL Ltd. Jan.24, 1969 [Feb. 8, 1968; July 16, 1968; Dec. 19, 1968], Nos.6290/68, 60472/68 and 807/69. Heading C7A. An alloy with enhanced torsion ductility in the wrought state consisting basically by weight, of Cr 28-75% Fe 0-49% Mn 0-1% Si 0-1% Ni apart from impurities and incidental elements - balance, the Cr, Ni and Fe contents being so correlated that the composition is represented by a point in or on the lines bounding the area ABCDEA in the ternary diagram shown, also contains Zr, Ce, Y or Hf in excess of the amount required to combine with N in the alloy as nitride and adequate to form a eutectic with the Ni. The total amount of elements other than Cr, Ni and Fe in the basic composition should not exceed 2À5%. The alloy may be annealed at 600‹-850‹ C.
