Abstract

1280728 Desks etc; furniture frames and joints VELOX-WERK HERBERT SCHNELLE 17 Oct 1969 [30 May 1969] 51131/69 Heading A4H A furniture frame comprises two metal subframes 1, 37, Fig.9 of hollow oval cross-section, each sub-frame comprising two leg stays 5, 6 or 41, 4 interconnected at the top by a transverse stay 8 or 37, welded thereto, the two sub-frames being detachably connected by oval section crossmembers 13, 14, 15, 16, each end of each crossmember having welded thereto a plate 25 Fig. 6 carrying hooks 28, 29 that slidably fit into slots 21, 22 in the transverse stays. Slots 21, 22 may be tapered. Hooks 28, 29 may include lower wedge surfaces 35, 36. The longer axis of the cross-section of the stays lies in the plane of the associated sub-frame; and the longer axis of the cross-member is parallel to the longer axis of the sub-frames at the connection between the crossmember and sub-frames. A table top (39) Fig. 8 (not shown) has hooks engaging in slots in the stays 8, 37. A body (40) Fig. 8 (not shown) comprising drawers is retained by the leg stays 5, 41 and retaining stays 80, 42 interconnected by a cross-member 81, cross-members 81, 15 supporting a flanged base plate 82. The flanges are pushed into slots in walls. The body (40) may be replaced by a wheeled trolley Fig.10 (not shown). A wardrobe may comprise two groups of frames, each group comprising two sub-frames e.g. 49, 51 Fig.11 (not shown), the inner group having shelves (52) and the outer group with clothes hangers, and the transverse stays (53) may mount curtains. The two sub-frames may have extension frames (94, 95) Fig.12 (not shown) attached thereto at each end, each comprising a leg stay (96, 97) and a transverse stay 98, Fig.13 (99). The transverse stay 98 has a pin 105 Fig.13 fitting into the open upper end 104 of leg stay 50. The legs stays and/or the retaining stays, e.g. 41, 5, Fig.16 are each provided with perforated rail 60, 59 Fig.14 (not shown) fitted thereon by a lug 62 in a stay opening, rail 60 including a reverse bend 73 so that a slot 74 of a wall 69 can be pushed thereover. Rail 60 also includes an extension 77 with an oblique strip 78 for a wall 76 provided with oblique slots 79. Holes 71, 72 Fig.17 (not shown) on the rail 60 suspend telescopic rails for shelves.
