Abstract

1280383 Casting machines GERITYSCHULTZ CORP 1 Oct 1970 [1 Oct 1969] 46836/70 Heading B3F [Also in Division F1] Apparatus for dispensing predetermined quantities of molten metal from a reservoir 10 to a die casting machine comprises a housing 14 mounted in reservoir 10 and formed with pumping cylinders 26, 28, the latter of larger capacity than the former, and an intermediate chamber 50 into which cylinder 28 delivers via passage 52 and from which cylinder 26 draws via inlet 58. In use, inlet 56 of cylinder 28 is disposed beneath the molten metal level 12 and the outlet of passage 52 is disposed above the level, overflow grooves (66), Fig. 2 (not shown), being provided at the top of chamber 50. Cylinder 26 delivers via gooseneck 20 and heated spout 24 to the die casting machine inlet sleeve 25. Pistons 32, 34 are reciprocated by a fluid pressure motor 44. The cylinders have linings of refractory material, e.g. graphite.
