Abstract
1280367 Papermaking BELOIT CORP 8 Oct 1969 [13 Nov 1968] 49395/69 Heading D2A A paper-making machine comprises a stock inlet box, a stock header extending across the width of the inlet box, groups of spaced risers which are narrow compared with the header, extending upwardly between the header and the inlet box, wall means being provided which internally divide the header into compartments which communicate with different ones of the groups of risers, and means for selectively and individually blocking off the flow of stock through the compartments. The groups may be formed by rows of tubes extending in the cross-machine direction, one or more rows constituting a group. As shown tube rows 38, 39 form one group, and tube rows 40 and 41 another. All the tubes are preferably of the same length. Valve 33 is slidable in throat 26 formed in the inlet box, to cut off flow from the first group in the position shown, or allow flow when slid back. The stock header is preferably of the rectangular cross-section shown, and may be supplied with stock from a conduit which has a straight run prior to the header.
