1370653 Apparatus for the wet production of non-woven fibrous webs J M VOITH GmbH 1 Nov 1971 [3 Nov 1970] 50709/71 Addition to 1196947 Heading D2A In a machine for the wet production of fibrous webs a wire 2 extends over a stationary support table 7, a head box 5 has an outlet duct 6 including side walls 6' which terminate adjacent the wire to form gaps 10, and chambers 11 are provided adjacent the respective edges of the wire, each chamber 11 being connected to a source of fluid by flow passage means whereby substantially uniform flow of the fluid is passed into the chamber and out through the associated gap. The table 7 has orifices 8 leading to suction boxes 9. A wall 11' of each chamber 11 is connected to the table 7 and a top wall 12 is formed with passages 13 disposed uniformly along the chamber and leading from a further chamber 14 having a fluid supply line 15. The passages 13 may be replaced by a slot. Pressure sensors 17, 18 for controlling the supply of fluid to the chamber 14 may be provided. The chamber 14 may be dispensed with, the chamber 11 being partitioned by a perforate plate 19. In other constructions, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), a fluid supply tube extends within and longitudinally of the chamber 11 and is perforated or slotted along its length, or the tube extends outside the chamber and has orifices which cooperate with the passages 13.
