Abstract

1279442 Making bags FMC CORP 30 June 1970 [5 Aug 1969] 31534/70 Heading B5D [Also in Division B8] A bag making machine has means 14 to fold the edges of a moving web W inwardly towards the longitudinal centre line of the web, a cutter 58 to sever the web between the infolded edges to form two lengths of bag stock, and means 26 to weld transversely the two lengths to form bags B. The folding means 14 comprise a pair of plates 42, 44 disposed at an angle to one another and of decreasing width in the downstream direction of the web so that the edges of the web can be pressed against the inside surface of plate 44 by panels 50, 52. Spring- biased rollers (not shown) fold the edges back to form cuffs 70. A dancer frame 22 is disposed between cutter 58 and intermittent feed rolls 24 of the sealing means.
