Abstract

1279444 Bag-making machines FMC CORP 11 Sept 1969 [16 Sept 1968] 17764/71 Divided out of 1279441 Heading B5D In a machine for making bags from a thermoplastic sheet, the materal is folded at, or adjacent to, its centre line and turned through 90‹ before being presented to an infeed frame of the bag making machine, there being means to maintain the two paths of the material at 90‹ to one another when the roll of material and the folding means are adjusted transversely relative to the centre line of the machine. The material is fed from a roll 26 mounted in a frame 157 mounted on rollers 162 and adjustable from side-to-side by an hydraulic cylinder 166. The cylinder 166 is controlled by an edge sensing control. To maintain the 90‹ angle when the roll is moved towards and away from the longitudinal centre line of the machine the frame 157 is connected to the machine by a guide rail 172 and two numbers 174, a block 176 having rollers engaging the vertical sides of rail 172 and a further roller engaging the upper side of rail 172.
