Abstract
1,012,510. Packaging-machines. O. RIST. Nov. 27, 1963 [Dec. 1, 1962], No. 46887/63. Heading B8C. In a machine for manufacturing filled and sealed rectangularbottomed bags, a tube 8 (Fig. 1) is formed by feeding a foil web 1 over a shaping shoulder 6 and welding together the edges of the web, a W-fold is effected diametrically opposite the longitudinal weld by guide rails 10<SP>1</SP> (Figs. 3 and 4) and a folding bar 15 after which the tube is sealed transversely by welding jaws 18, contents are introduced into the partially formed bag through a filling tube 9 and the transverse seal is simultaneously contacted, upon opening of the jaws 18, by vertically movable cooling and severing jaws 19 which draw the partially formed bag downwardly. The operation is then repeated to form individually filled bags 25. The longitudinal weld is formed during each stationary period of the tube. The filling tube 9 can be rotatably adjusted in order that the longitudinal weld 22 shall slide over a member 12 and so that the member shall be parallel to the jaws 18. The shaping shoulder may be rotated through a right-angle relative to the filling tube and jaws such that the longitudinal tube weld is disposed at the side of the filling tube so that a second pair of guide rails and a second bar may be provided to form bags having diametrically opposite W-folds. Instead of the jaws 19 being vertically movable, the jaws 18 may be vertically movable and may therefore perform the function of drawing the tube downwardly. During each stationary period of the web 1, a tear-strip or tear string is attached thereto.
