Abstract

1,033,613. Webs of plastics bags; seaming non-metallic sheet material. H. J. B. PLASTICS Ltd. March 26, 1963 [March 26, 1962], No. 11497/62. Headings B5D and B5K. A web of plastics film is folded upon itself at 11 (Fig. 3, not shown), pairs of transverse welds 27 are made at intervals along the web and a line of perforations 30 is made between each pair of weld lines 27 so that the web may easily be torn into individual bags. In the machine illustrated, a doubled web is fed over a roller 16 (Fig. 2, not shown) preferably coated with silicon rubber, which co-operates with a vertically reciprocating welding head 25 which has two projecting edges 26 to form pairs of welds either by heat seaming or high-frequency seaming. The web is subsequently fed over a bar 20 which has an inserted rubber pad 24 co-operating with a perforating bar 21. The web of bags is subsequently taken up on a roll 23. The web of plastics may initially be folded so that its side edges are coincident or alternatively with one edge projecting beyond the other to form a flap. The transverse welds and lines of weakening may be curved or zig-zag or any other desired form.
