Abstract

1383428 Manufacture of carrier bags WINDMOLLER & HOLSCHER 30 June 1972 [2 July 1971] 30829/72 Heading A4G Apparatus for welding handles to the edges of a web of thermoplastics material which is folded so that the two edges are adjacent, and both edges are folded into the mouth of the web, comprises a pre-heating station 2 with a heated tongue 6, 6' for projecting between the edges, preferably associated with backing members 7, 7' outside the web, and a welding station 3 downstream of the preheating station, the handles being welded on at the welding station. Intermittent feedrollers 1 pull the web through the stations 2 and 3, the preheating and welding occurring when the web is stopped, and the bags are transversely sealed and severed at 4.
