Abstract

1276894 Photographic light-sensitive silver halide materials AGFA-GEVAERT A G 18 July 1969 [19 July 1968 12 Aug 1968] 36249/69 Heading G2C A photographic light-sensitive silver halide emulsion is made by precipitating silver halide in the presence of a hydrophilic organic binder such as gelatine, solidification or flocculation of the emulsion and washing, and before chemical ripening, adding to the emulsion a colloidal silicic acid sol so that the finished emulsion comprises at least 50% by weight of silicic acid based on the total binder employed. On coating the emulsion and drying, the emulsion layer is stated to comprise a substantially continuous porous silicic acid structure as matrix containing in the pores or cells of the matrix the silver halide and organic binder.
