Abstract

1275657 Protection of silver and vesicular images AGFA GEVAERT A G 5 Dec 1969 [17 Dec 1968] 59485/69 Heading G2C A photographic material comprises a supported hydrophilic layer which carries an image composed of metallic silver and vesicles superimposed imagewise on the silver image and an outermost water-impermeable hydrophobic protective layer. The hydrophobic layer may be polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, polymethacrylate resin or a silicone resin containing methyl siloxane or phenylsiloxane units. The material is formed by imagewise exposing a supported silver halide emulsion layer, processing to form a silver image, treating the silver image with a compound which is decomposed on the particles of the silver image to yield an image of light scattering vesicles, and applying to the image-carrying layer a waterimpermeable hydrophobic protective layer, which stabilizes the images against moisture.
