Abstract
1,274,083. Lifting devices; masted lift trucks; invalid hoists. B. I. T. LARSSON. 11 Nov., 1969 [13 Feb., 1969], No. 55056/69. Heading B8H and B8J. A lifting device for raising and lowering a fixed load, such as a chair 11 for dental treatment or for attending the sick, is provided with an hydraulic unit 1 having a pressure cylinder and a piston-rod 2, and finds application in lift trucks and in stationary use in store-rooms when goods are to be moved vertically between different floors or shelves. A transverse shaft 3 is rbtatably mounted on the top end of the piston rod 2 with two cogs 4, 5 of different diameters firmly fixed thereto, one at each end. The smaller cog 5 engages a fixed rack 6 while the larger cog 4 engages a rack 7 fixed to a carrier 8 movable vertically along a guide rail 9. On a bracket 10 projecting from the carrier 8 is the treatment chair 11. Pressure fluid is fed to the unit 1 by an electrically driven pump 45 and, since the peripheral speed of the cog 4 is greater than that of the cog 5, the chair 11 is lifted at a greater speed than that at which the piston-rod 2 is extended. For a greater load capacity, with a lesser lifting height, the cog 5 may be made of larger diameter than the cog 4.
