Abstract

1,273,997. Coating by hot-dipping. SIEMENS A. G. Sept. 17, 1969 [Sept. 26, 1968], No.45921/69. Heading C7F. A copper or copper alloy wire is coated with tin or tin alloy by passing through a molten bath of tin and then through a wiper nozzle which has a tapering section at its inlet end leading into a cylindrical section. The length of the tapering section is 20 to 100 times greater, and the maximum diameter of the section 2 to 10 times greater than the diameter of the wire. The die sections may be made of the same or different materials e.g. diamond, ruby, stainless steel or steel coated with TiC. The die may be maintained at 200 to 300‹ C., and may be suspended or float on or be distant from the bath.
