Abstract
1,258,831. Coating with metals by hot dipping. ARMCO STEEL CORP. Oct. 15, 1969 [Oct. 25, 1968], No.50721/69. Heading C7F. A strand of e.g. steel is drawn from a bath of molten metal e.g. zinc, through a ceramic die 14 having a sharp entry edge i. e. 90 degrees or less. A non-oxidizing atmosphere is introduced through a pipe 30 and the die is adjustable in planes at right angles to and parallel to the strand, with part of the die (# to “ inch) submerged in the bath. The clearance between the strand and the die is not more than 50% of the diameter of the strand.
