Abstract
1335542 Coating wires by hot dipping SIEMENS A G 12 Nov 1970 [13 Nov 1969(3)] 53975/70 Heading C7F A copper or copper alloy wire 1 is fed through a steam chamber 3, water bath 4, HCl pickling bath 6, and then a bath 7 of molten tin covered with charcoal 9. The wire leaves the bath through a die 10 of e.g. diamond, ruby or stainless steel and having a cross-section of undulating recesses, Fig. 2, as described in Specification 1335053 which leaves a thickness of tin greater than 3 microns. The die is mounted in a tube 11 which is movable vertically between stops, and is also free to move horizontally. The exit orifice of the die is at least 5 mm below the surface of the bath.
