Abstract

1,273,404. Knitting. E. MAYER [trading as MAYER & CIE]. 6 Nov., 1969 [24 Dec., 1968], No. 54360/69. Headings D1C and D1K. A circular machine for knitting pile fabric comprises dial needles 15 and plush hooks 10 mounted in a cylinder 11. The hooks can be selected and are controlled, similarly to needles, to draw loops of a plush thread 21. Long and short butt hooks are provided so that alternate hooks can draw loops on alternate courses. Casting-off the loops is assisted by a plate (22 Figs. 6a, b not shown) depending between the two beds. In one example each cylinder trick contains a short and longbutt hook; alternatively the cylinder may be twice the gauge of the dial.
