127,285. Soc. Anon. pour l'Exploitation des ProcÚdÚs Westinghouse-Leblanc. Aug. 10. 1916, [Convention date]. Ordnance design; chambers.-Relates to supercalibre trench mortar projectiles of the kind having a hollow body E formed with steadying-vanes K, and consists in providing a hollow open-ended tailpiece G fitting the bore of the gun so that the pressure of the gun gases is exerted near the centre of gravity of the projectile, and the gases leaving the muzzle do not interfere with the vanes K. The projectile is shown adjustably supported on a trench mortar by means of a screwed collar H which permits of varying the range by varying the size of the gas chamber L as described in Specification 125,612. The propelling charge may be fired electrically by wires led through an opening I.
