Abstract

1,272,373. Vibrators. XEROX CORP. 21 Dec., 1970 [2 Jan., 1970],No. 60553/70. Heading F2X. [Also in Division G2]. A developer housing is vibrated by a pair of counter rotating weights so as to agitate developer from the housing into contact with an adjacent electrostatic latent image. In one embodiment (Figs. 3, 5), a latent image bearing cylinder 1 rotates adjacent a developer housing 11 which is mounted on springs 12 and contains a device 20 comprising weights 23 and 25 fixed to drums 24, 34. A drive shaft 26 rotates drum 24 in one direction and, via a transmission system 28-33, rotates drum 34 in the opposite direction. In Fig. 6, a housing 40 is pivoted to the axis of cylinder 1 and contains a developer support bed 43 and a device 20. Device 20 moves housing 40 in a pendulum fashion. Housings 11, 40 may contain vanes, screens, wires &c. to increase agitation of developer.
