Abstract

1301157 Developing electrostatic images XEROX CORP 15 June 1970 [16 June 1969] 28847/70 Heading G2H An apparatus for developing latent electrostatic images comprises an arcuate plate 36 positioned concentric with a belt 10 bearing the latent image, a developing grid-electrode 37 between the belt 10 and the plate 36, a dry powder developer recirculating system 34 for introducing developer to the upper end of the plate 36 and a vibratory means resiliently coupled to the plate 36 to fluidize the developing material. The vibratory means, Fig.3, comprises an electromagnetic drive 80 coupled to mounting plates 39 of the plate 36 and grid-electrode 37 by a drive shaft 84 which is oscillated, with the assistance of springs 90, 93, at the resonant frequency of the system, which is supported on a base plate 74 by flexible members 72, 76. The electromagnetic drive 80 may be replaced by a pneumatic drive.
