Abstract

1,272,254. Container for long narrow articles. BOWATER PACKAGING Ltd. 24 Sept., 1970 [1 Oct., 1969], No. 48279/69. Heading B8P. A container erected from an unitary blank (Fig. 1) of fibrous sheet material comprises a base panel 1, a pair of side wall panels 3, 5 and a pair of end wall panels 13 (11 Fig. 1) foldably connected to the base panel 1, a pair of corner flaps 27, 31 connected, one to each side edge of each end wall panel (11), 13, ledge panels (35, Fig. 1) foldably connected to the respective end wall panels (11), 13 and corner flaps 27, 31 and closure panels 19, 23 connected about fold lines 21, 25 to the side wall panels 3, 5. Each of the ledge panels (35) is divided into a central portion 37 and outer portions 39, 41, the central portion 37 being provided with a pair of fold lines 53, 55, each of which extends from an internal corner of the central portion 37 towards the free edge of this portion 37 to facilitate the formation of a gusset fold in the portion 37. The container is suitable for packaging fluorescent light fittings and tubes, domestic and garden tools, venetian and roller blinds, rolls of fabric and pipes, tubes and ducting.
