Abstract
1,272,024. Resistors. ANGSTROHM PRECISION Inc. 24 March, 1970 [27 March, 1969], No. 14281/70. Heading H1S. A thin film resistor comprises a resistive track 30 deposited in a groove in the upper surface of a body 10 of ceramic or glass material, the resistance being adjustable by abrading the upper surface of the block to reduce the crosssectional area of the resistance material, and the film being connected to terminal pads, 22, 20 (Fig. 2) by a metalized coating 18, the pads being formed by dip soldering. The resistor may be encapsulated in epoxy (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown) or the resistance film and the metalized portions may be protected by a glaze. The pads are arranged so as to connect to printed circuit conductor 24 and 28 of a board 26. The resistive film may be formed in a groove having a sinuous shape or having arcuate or other cross-sections.
