Abstract

1351763 Electric couplings BUNKER RAMO CORP 29 April 1971 [27 July 1970] 12212/71 Heading H2E [Also in Division H1] An integrated circuit package including a variable resistor comprises resistive and conductive tracks 36, 37, 38, 39 (Fig. 2) deposited, e.g. by screening or film evaporation, on a ceramic, e.g. alumina, substrate 26 and has terminal members 40 (Fig. 6) gripping the substrate to make electrical contact with the terminal portions 36a-36n of the conductive paths, the connections being completed by soldering. Central parallel resistive and conductive paths 39, 37 are bridged by a carbon or precious metal contact member 102 (Fig. 15) carried by member 100 on a plastics lead screw 86 held in a plastics insulating case 66. Bonding members 56, 58 formed of fibrous material and epoxytype adhesive in the same shape as the substrate are heat and pressure bonded to the upper and lower surfaces of the substrate such that the elements 46, 50 of the terminal members and the resistive paths 38 are embedded, a central aperture being provided in bonding member 56 to allow the contact member to contact the paths 39, 37. The completed device may be mounted on an integrated circuit card.
