Abstract

1442296 Coating with glass DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 25 Sept 1973 [16 Aug 1972] 38138/72 Heading C1M [Also in Divisions A5 B2 and H1] A capacitive electrode for monitoring bodily derived electrical signals comprises an electrically-conducting layer deposited on a ceramic substrate and a moisture-impervious electrically insulating layer deposited on the conducting layer ,the electrode being adapted for use with the moisture-impervious electrically insulating layer in contact with the body. The electrodes may be manufactured in matched pairs using thick film techniques with associated resistors and conductors on the reverse side of the substrate. Gold paste conducting layer and platinum paste conductors are screen printed on the substrate, preferably alumina, then edge connectors are painted on by hand. The glass insulating layer is twice printed over the gold conducting layer then the resistors are printed with resistor paste and their resistances adjusted by an air abrasive machine. Encapsulation glass is printed over the resistors. The layers are dried and fired at several stages.
