Sulphuretted dyes are obtained by heating with sulphur and sodium sulphide mixtures of an azo dye from diazotized picramic acid and phenol or a cresol or cresols with free phenol or a cresol or cresols. According to an example, a mixture of picramic acid-azo-m-cresol with meta-paracresol is used. The products dye cotton black shades.
