1,270,271. Reciprocating pumps and motors. DOWTY TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Sept. 10, 1969 [Sept. 20, 1968], No. 44774/68. Addition to 1, 213, 662. Heading F1A. A swash-plate pump or motor has an integral casing 2 formed with a valve face 4, a cylindrical bearing surface 21 rotatably supporting the cylinder block 15, apertures for the swash-plate support shaft 31, and a servomotor cylinder bore 3 housing a servopiston 55 connected to the swash-plate 29. The setting of piston 55 is manually controlled by axially adjusting a shaft 62 to vary the opening of ports 79 connecting working chamber 77 to the low pressure casing interior, chamber 77 being connected to the highpressure port 5 of the pump or motor via restriction 75 and passage 73. Shaft 62 is adjusted by rotating spindle 68, movement of shaft 62 being limited by a loose-fitting pin 81. Liquid enters via inlet 82, and cylinder block passages 24 and vanes 25 provide a centrifugal pumping action directing the liquid to the valve face inlet port. A seal 53 is provided between the cylinder block and the casing. The drive shaft extends through aperture 52 and engages splined aperture 51, a boss 9 and lugs 8 locating the pump or motor in position.
