Abstract
1,267,165. Stoppers &c. CEBAL G.P. 21 Aug., 1969 [22 Aug., 1968], No. 41837/69. Heading B8T. [Also in Divisions E1-E2] An annular plastics grommet 4 forms a seal between a central panel 31 and an edge element 32 of a lid 3 to bridge a gap 33. The grommet 4 has two substantially co-planar laterally extending annular grooves 431, 432 facing radially inwards and outwards of the annular grommet and a third vertically extending groove 43 defining a movable lip 4122 which can be flexed into the space of the third groove 43. In this way the inner groove 431 is distorted allowing the centre panel 31 to be separated. When the third groove is inside the container, that is below the lid 3, the grommet 4 is provided with an upwardly projecting pull tab (42), Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). In this embodiment the centre panel 31 with the attached grommet 4 is separated from the edge element 32. However, the edge element 32 may be connected to the centre panel 31 by bridging elements, in which case the gap 33 would be in the form of an arcuate slot. In this latter case the two sides 412, 411 of the grommet 4, in the region of the bridging elements would be separated by a slot.
